Scan to dismiss

The barcode alarm that sends you to the kitchen.

Choose a barcode on an object away from your bed. When your alarm rings, walk over and scan that same code. Coop’s Barcode mission makes the off button a place you have to reach.

Barcode is a Coop Pro mission. Basic alarms include Slide to dismiss, Math and Memory Grid. Check the app for current plans.

Why a barcode can work when a louder sound does not

If you already hear your alarm but dismiss it half asleep, volume is only part of the problem. A saved code adds a physical step between hearing the alarm and finishing it. You choose the destination while you are awake.

Start with one reachable checkpoint. Try the scan in the lighting you will actually have at your wake time. You can use a bathroom product you keep in the same place; replace the saved target before throwing away its packaging.

Barcode, QR code, or a photo?

The Barcode mission checks a code you registered. A Place Photo mission instead compares a new view with a reference you saved. Object Hunt asks for a kind of object rather than the exact packaging. Those are different tasks, so choose the one that fits your home.

A barcode is useful when you want a repeatable, on-device check. It does not need a vision-model request to read the code. Your phone still needs camera permission and a clear, readable target.

Make the setup reliable

Use an undamaged code on a flat surface, leave enough room to focus the camera, and avoid glare. Keep the target out of a drawer you cannot open quietly. Set a short test alarm while you are awake before relying on the setup for work.

On Android, complete the app’s exact-alarm and battery-permission guidance. On iOS 26 and later, allow AlarmKit access. Device power, permissions, sound settings and operating-system limits still matter; a mission cannot guarantee that every phone will wake every person.

Questions before your first alarm

Can I scan a QR code to stop the alarm?

Coop’s Barcode mission accepts a registered barcode or QR code. Save your target in the app first and test that the same code is accepted before using it for a morning alarm.

Does the barcode alarm need an internet connection?

Barcode decoding runs on the phone. It does not send the image to an AI service to identify the code. Optional features such as Wake Partners and Kip have separate connectivity requirements.

Is the barcode alarm free?

Barcode is part of Coop Pro. Basic alarms offer Slide to dismiss, Math and Memory Grid. Current subscription options and trial eligibility are shown in the app.

Can I combine a barcode with other alarm tasks?

Coop Pro supports mission chains of up to five tasks. A scan can follow a math problem or a movement task. Start with a short chain you can finish consistently.
